Hello all! My journey along The Oregon Trail has ended, at least for a time. I hope to continue the journey at a later date. Giving you an epilogue in the form of a prologue. Before I left on this journey, I visited the graves of Amos and Mary Mendenhall Barnett, the parents that took their family on this trip in 1859. As I have said, they returned to Iowa with their family seven years later, and they are buried at the Earlham Cemetery in Earlham, Iowa. After I took some photos of the headstone, I turned away to visit my Great-Grandmother and Great-Grandfather, Laura Barnett Jackson and William (Daddy Jack) Jackson. I turned around and a cat had appeared and was rubbing up against Amos and Mary’s headstone. This cat came out of nowhere. It was obviously looking for some attention, and began rolling around on the grave. I did not pet it because, well, cats can be unpredictable. I just thought it was kind of strange it suddenly appeared and was rubbing up against the headstone of the people I was honoring. Thank you for following my journey.
