At this point we get to landmarks that all travelers were told to look for. Courthouse Rock and Jail Rock are very recognizable geologic features. Joel stated that they camped very near these and could see Chimney Rock in the distance. I could not get a vantage point to see Chimney Rock and it was too hazy anyway. Really liked this place! Joel said it was called Courthouse rock because it looked like the Capitol in Washington, DC. Like he had ever seen it! However, it is described that way on the commemorative plaque, so I am sure he heard this from other travelers
