Days Six and Seven: Austin… or, The Reason For This Trip

The reason for this trip is that my cousin Tobin was getting married to Lisa, and he  to asked me to be a Groomsman.

We had a rehearsal on Friday night and a rehearsal dinner Tex Mex food.  It was great to take a break from the barbecue.

Before the wedding:

Since I was in the wedding, I couldn’t take any photos of the wedding (those may come later).  Here are photos of after the wedding.  The had a little reception at the church.

Lisa, the Bride and Bruce, the Best Man

The big reception was at Scholz Garten in Austin.

The Happy Couple
Connie – she was the back up singer to Best Man Bruce. They sang “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”
Carolyn, the Groom’s sister and a Bridesmaid
Havin’ Fun!

The next day, Tobin and Lisa flew out for their Honeymoon in NYC.  Carolyn and Connie took a trip to Waco. I stayed in Austin and did some maintenance.  I needed to wash clothes and the car.  Then on Carlos’ advice, I went to Book People.

Of course I bought a book!  I had to buy a book by a Texas author, and the story was about Texas cattlemen:

This book was made into the movie “Hud” with Paul Newman.

I drove around the University of Texas campus – not much going on there, but I saw a banner for this:

I strolled down Congress Avenue, looking at books, but didn’t buy any.  There was entertainment:

And the Capitol:

And lunch:

Had a Cuban sandwich here

Then I went to the hotel and promptly fell asleep.  I woke up in time for dinner.  My last barbecue in Texas.

The sausage was spicy, but not that spicy.  Oh well, back to the diet.

I am currently in transit to St. Louis.
