Day Two: Hello New Orleans!

Here’s how my first day in NOLA went:

Up early, Lyft from the Air BnB to the French Quarter by 7:00 AM for Breakfast.

Breakfast at the Cafe Fleur-De-Lis on Chartres.  Excellent!

Walk to the Riverwalk and kill time until my bus tour at 9:00 AM.

Then on the bus for the “Super City Tour” (it wasn’t THAT super).  We toured all around, with the driver giving us all sorts of trivia about the city.  We stopped at St Louis Cemetery No. 2:

Very well-kept and clean place!  Lots of history here.  Next stop:  City Park.

We stopped here for thirty minutes, in front of the Morning Call Cafe for cafe au lait and beignets.  The don’t dust their beignets with powdered sugar.  The Morning Call is inside the City Park.

The Morning Call is right across the street from the Sculpture Garden.  A

After the tour, I wandered around the French Quarter for awhile, but the battery was running low on my phone (long story), so I took a Lyft to the Air BnB, ran to Whole Foods to pick up some lunch and took a break while the phone charged.  Later, Lyft back to the French Quarter for dinner:

New Orleans is 300 years old this year!

Dinner at Coop’s Place – Shrimp Creole.  The beer was Turbodog.  “Where the not so elite meet”  Perfect for me.

Sorry, the Seafood Gumbo was already gone!

A visit to the French Quarter wouldn’t be complete without an after dinner visit to Cafe Du Monde for Cafe Au Lait and Beignets!  With powdered sugar!  The sax serenade was cool….

The Mississippi and Jackson Square at night From the Riverwalk.

Last stop of the night:  Frenchman Street, suggested by my first Lyft Driver in the morning.  Lots of live music and an outdoor art fair.  I stopped at the Spotted Cat and peered in.  You could see the band playing through the front window (the drummer looked really bored)… Sorry, no pics or video of the band.  There was a two drink minimum if you entered. No thanks.

Lyft back to the Air BnB.  All of my Lyft drivers were natives and very nice.
